I am attempting to build and deploy an IIS application from Server 2012 R2 to a machine running 2008R2 and it is failing with the following error:
[VSMSDeploy] C:\Program Files (x86)\MSBuild\Microsoft\VisualStudio\v12.0\Web\Microsoft.Web.Publishing.targets(4255, 5): Web deployment task failed. (Could not complete the request to remote agent URL 'https://remoteserver:8172/MsDeploy.axd?site=mysite'.) This error indicates that you cannot connect to the server. Make sure the service URL is correct, firewall and network settings on this computer and on the server computer are configured properly, and the appropriate services have been started on the server. Error details: Could not complete the request to remote agent URL 'https://remoteserver:8172/MsDeploy.axd?site=mysite'. The underlying connection was closed: An unexpected error occurred on a send. Unable to read data from the transport connection: An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host. An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host
This deploy works fine from a 2008R2 build server to a 2008R2 remote server, and from a 2012R2 build server to a 2012R2 remote server. I'm guessing that it's due to a newer version of IIS trying to deploy to an older version, but I can't seem to find a work around. Any insight?
